Who is this training for ?
This course is the perfect entry point to the world of wine. Ideal for the beginner wine enthusiast, or those starting a career in wine or hospitality.
How does it work ?
The WSET level 1 in wine includes six hours of course in the classroom, taught by WSET certified trainers. A booklet will be given to you the same day, in which you will find the essential points covered during the training, as well as tasting grids and self-assessment exercises.

- The main types and styles of wine
- Common wine grapes and their characteristics
- How to make food and wine pairings
- Tasting of six wines with educator feedback (students to provide their own samples or look for our tasting kit)
- How to store and serve wine
- How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
Assessment
At the end of the 6 hours of lessons, you will be assessed on the knowledge acquired during a closed book test. You will have to answer 30 multiple choice questions in 45 minutes.
To get your WSET 1 certificate in wine, you will have to answer 70% of the questions correctly. The success rate for the exam by Weeno in 2021 is 98%.
In the event that you fail the exam, it is possible to take it again. The cost of registration for a re-sit is 80 euros.
Pre-requisite and accessibility
This training does not require prior knowledge of wine. You must be 18 years old to register. Excellent comprehension and writing in the selected language are also encouraged to follow the course.
